As a huge fan of An Unkindness of Ghosts, I was very excited to dig into this one by the same author, Rivers Solomon. This one was immediately addictive with a main character, Vern, who escapes a cult-like community into the woods to have and raise her babies. There was so much to love in this book. The characters were well developed, the story was strange and mysterious. Everything I expected from the author. That said, it seemed like both the plot and the quality of the writing dropped off about 2/3s into the story and became very average. I would still recommend the book, but would have loved for the last part of the book to have been at the same quality as the beginning.
